Karaoke Machines FAQs
Who invented karaoke?
The first person to build and use a karaoke machine was Daisuke Inoue who sang country covers for businessmen in Japan. One day his drummer couldn’t make it to a show so he recorded a tape and Inoue sang along to it to the delight of the guests. It gave him an idea and in 1971 he built the first karaoke machine. Unfortunately he didn’t patent it so has never made any money from the discovery of this invention and form of entertainment.
Any Do’s and Don’ts for karaoke singing?
Never swing the microphone, those devices are expensive and cupping your hand around them is not advised as it can cause unpleasant feedback. Turn off the mic when you are done if possible and gently hand it back to the DJ. Do hold it close to your mouth though, the DJ will adjust the volume. Do sing along and clap, but don’t grab a mic and try to join in unless beckoned. Never write up a song slip for someone else, not cool. Don’t boo. Don’t forget to tip.
What is the longest someone has continuously sang karaoke?
39 hours and 2 minutes – established by Anthony Lawson of Wilmington, NC in June 2008, who broke the previous record of 14.5 hours set in China. There are many rumors of longer sets, but nothing has been confirmed at this point. Supposedly a Korean woman sang 1000 songs in 59 hours for her husband who had cancer, but this may not have been continuous.
